SHANGHAI, China, May 01, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- NIO Inc. (NYSE: NIO; HKEX: 9866; SGX: NIO) (“NIO” or the “Company”), a pioneer and a leading company in the premium smart electric vehicle market, today announced its April 2024 delivery results.

NIO delivered 15,620 vehicles in April 2024, representing a strong increase of 134.6% year-over-year. The deliveries consisted of 8,817 premium smart electric SUVs, and 6,803 premium smart electric sedans. Cumulative deliveries of NIO vehicles reached 495,267 as of April 30, 2024.

On April 25, 2024, NIO launched its 2024 ET7, a premium smart electric executive sedan. Featuring major enhancements in interior and exterior design and digital cockpit, the ET7 is tailored to cater to the demands of premium executive users. Deliveries of the 2024 ET7 began on April 30, 2024.

On April 25, 2024, NIO entered into a strategic cooperation with Lotus Technology, a leading global luxury electric vehicle maker, on charging and swapping. NIO has consistently pursued cooperation on charging and swapping technologies and has previously formed strategic partnerships with Changan Automobile, Geely Group, JAC Group and Chery Automobile on battery swapping. NIO is dedicated to advancing technological innovation and standardization for charging and swapping, as well as promoting a large-scale standardized power network to provide users with efficient and convenient recharging experiences.

Nope. Zijn convertibles notes die maar geruild kunnen worden voor aandelen ten vroegste 2029. Veel mensen hebben da nieuws verkeerd opgevat. Schuld terug betalen aan lager tarief en de rest bij de cash nu. Enkel shorters die nu wat paniek zaaien. Op zich is het zo slecht nog niet het nieuws.

Nio: (-1,18%) de Chinese producent van elektrische voertuigen zat in het tweede kwartaal onder de lat,
maar zette wel een positieve omzetverwachting in de markt voor het huidige kwartaal. Koud en warm dus,
met in eerste instantie een nettoverlies van 3,28 renminbi per aandeel, terwijl analisten op 2,96 mikten.
De omzet daalde met een hoger dan verwachte 14,8%, omdat de leveringen 6,1% terugvielen tot 23.520
voertuigen. Maar dankzij een nieuw platform, een uitbreiding van het stroomnetwerk en aangedikte
verkoopcapaciteiten zal het aantal leveringen “fors” groeien in de tweede jaarhelft. In het derde kwartaal
kan de teller richting 55.000 à 57.000 wagens, tegenover 31.607 stuks een jaar geleden.

Morgan Stanley raised its price target on Nio to $18.7, on Xpeng to $25.4, and on Li Auto to $53, all keeping their ratings at Overweight.

The lackluster 1H23 is now behind us, and we are starting to see an inflection point of meaningful operational improvement and potential re-rating opportunities, backed by volume upturn, policy tailwinds, autonomous driving and technology monetization," Morgan Stanley analyst Tim Hsiao's team said in a research note sent to investors yesterday.
The team raised its price targets on the EV trio and maintained its Overweight ratings on them, saying that proven volume growth driven by the new model cycle will push up shares of the EV trio.

As background, Nio released several new models based on the new NT 2.0 platform in the first half of the year and has completed the switchover to almost all models based on the older NT 1.0 platform, except for the only remaining EC6 coupe SUV.

Model switching has been one of the major factors behind the weak sales of both Nio and Xpeng over the past year, and with that work largely complete, both companies have shown signs of improvement in deliveries.

As China commits to deploying L3 vehicle automation, startups should accelerate the rollout of city navigation-assisted driving features on a wider scale, the team said, adding that they expect consumer adoption of autonomous driving features to grow significantly over the next 12-18 months.

"With this change, we would encourage investors to reconsider the value of EV startups' software/algorithm, which looks set to effect a reshuffle of the auto industry and act as the next key catalyst that further drives a re-rating of the EV trio's shares," the team wrote.

Specifically, the team lowered their 2023 sales forecast for the Nio to 175,000 units, down 24 percent from the previous 230,000 units.

"We think the EV trio's valuations have yet to fully capture the idiosyncratic volume upturn from 2H23e, of which the 68-190% YoY growth we expect should outshine that of peers," the team wrote.

Morgan Stanley raised its price target on Nio by about 56 percent to $18.7 from $12 previously. Considering that the company closed at $13.24 yesterday, the price target implies a 41 percent upside.
